Old economy meets new economy
Berlin’s Zeitungsviertel – the “newspaper district” – is one of the most dynamic submarkets in Berlin. Between 1900 and 1930, the neighbourhood was considered the largest press centre in the world. Established media houses like Axel Springer and taz are headquartered here, along with numerous start-ups. It is this blend of old and new economy that makes this district particularly attractive to technology, media and telecommunication companies, associations and ministries.
The office and commercial property is only a short walk away from Checkpoint Charlie, Friedrichstraße and Gendarmenmarkt. The U-Bahn station Kochstraße provides excellent local transport connections.
Berlin is inspiring – and it draws in people from all over the world. The German capital has turned into a hotspot for FinTech companies in recent years: 35 percent of all innovative German financial service providers are based here. And more are joining: two FinTech companies are founded in Germany every week. It is thus no surprise that the city continues to grow. Current statistics estimate more than 20,000 new residents per year until 2025.
